Next technique with lemon and salt involves extracting the juice of a lemon and mixing the juice with salt to form a paste. Apply this paste onto the copper with the help of a clean cloth. Rub it well and rinse off. Polish it with another clean cloth and admire the shine. Note: Fine powder salt is suitable for this as the use of crystal salt can create scratches on your copper while rubbing.

Mix one tablespoon of salt to one cup of white vinegar and add some flour to form a pate while mixing. Now apply the so formed paste onto the copper and smear in large amounts at the tarnished areas. Leave it undisturbed for an hour. When it dries up after an hour, wash it with fresh water and buff dry. The ketch up method of cleansing works well for both copper and brass items. You may wonder how a thing like ketchup or sauce that is notorious for stains can remove the tarnishes on copper. But its true and the results are awesome. Apply a thin coating of ketch up or sauce over the copper and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, rinse it well with warm water and polish well with a clean cloth.
